POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial operations and reporting while driving continuous improvement in processes and systems. You will manage the company’s accounting functions, provide strategic insights, and support a culture of collaboration and accountability.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ASPE, US GAAP). Optimize the close process to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for automation, standardization, and efficiency gains across accounting operations.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and monitor robust internal controls, with a focus on data integrity and consistency. Support SOX compliance initiatives as needed.
  • Strategic Support: Partner with senior leadership to provide financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to drive informed decision-making.
  • Audit Coordination: Lead year-end audits and liaise with external auditors, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
  • Policy Development: Document and harmonize accounting policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Tax & Regulatory Filings: Oversee timely completion of GST, PST, payroll, and other statutory filings.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • CPA designation required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded or multi-location environment.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., macros, pivot tables) and experience with ERP systems.
