Regional Sales Manager - Prairies

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a high-impact sales leader to drive growth as our Regional Sales Manager – Prairies. This individual can be based out of either the Saskatoon, SK or Winnipeg, MB locations.

Reporting to the Director of National Sales, you will lead & develop a team Territory Managers across four locations, driving revenue growth, margin expansion, and market penetration. As part of the national sales leadership team, you will collaborate with two other Regional Sales Managers & Branch Managers within your territory to deliver a unified approach to industrial distribution across Canada.

The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership — coaching the field, strengthening customer relationships, and identifying market opportunities. This is a leadership position for someone who thrives on accountability, performance management, and building winning sales teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional Growth & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy aligned with national objectives
  • Drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and market share gains
  • Establish regional sales targets and monitor performance against KPIs
  • Identify new markets, verticals, and product opportunities
  • Analyze sales data, trends, and competitive activity to adjust strategy

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Territory Managers to achieve performance targets
  • Conduct regular field rides, performance reviews, and sales coaching sessions
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing sales professionals
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Branch Managers to align sales and operational execution

Customer & Market Development

  • Strengthen relationships with key and strategic accounts
  • Identify and cultivate business opportunities
  • Support complex negotiations and major bids
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention

Financial & Operational Accountability

  • Forecast regional sales and manage annual budgeting
  • Monitor expenses and optimize trade and promotional spending
  • Analyze variances and implement corrective actions
  • Contribute insights to national sales planning and strategic reviews

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5–8+ years of progressive sales experience required (distribution or related industry preferred)
  • Experience leading and coaching multi-location sales teams is strongly preferred; candidates who demonstrate readiness and aptitude for people leadership may also be considered
  • Post-secondary education in Business or related field strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and improving profit margins
  • Strong financial acumen (forecasting, budgeting, margin management, etc)
  • Leads data-driven decision-making by leveraging sales analytics and performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new markets and strategic accounts
  • Effective negotiator with strong executive-level communication skills
